In our last issue, we discussed about how to use Facebook Groups for businesses. Today, we will be talking about the right ways to connect with people on Facebook.
Although people are more or less aware of what correct Netiquette in social media management, the creation and development of Facebook has taken web interaction to a whole new level.
When it comes to Facebook marketing, there are a number of things you have to keep in mind when addressing people. You should evaluate the applications that you use. However you use Facebook, whether for personal or business purposes, realize that your actions online, while not all, can have a big impact within your world. For some, Facebook and other social networks is even the basis of making or breaking relationships from employees ranting about their bosses online to wives finding out about her husband’s affair.
Here are a few things to bear in mind when dealing with people online through Facebook, more so if you’re using it professionally.
– Keep what needs to be Private, Private
This may sound obvious already but it’s no longer surprising that countless people on Facebook forget this. You can post ‘What’s on your mind’ on Facebook wall and virtually anything you want to say. Even so, remember that posting these things may turn out to be a big blunder on your part. Would you really want your customers or clients find out that you puke at last night’s wild party? Or is that catty comment that was supposed to be an inside joke between friends worth the misinterpretation by others? Remember, the Internet is forever. Personal or professional contacts may stumble on these in the future. If you openly let others know about private things in your life, imagine the embarrassment and even discredit that you could earn.
When Using Facebook for Business, Stop Publishing those Game Updates
Those game updates will make you look incompetent towards potential customers. Remember that you do have the option not to post these updates. To you, this may be simple entertainment. But to others, posting game updates will give you the reputation of being a bit too juvenile. You don’t want this for your reputation, do you?
– Stop Text Posting or Posting when it’s not necessary
?Hd a frikng gud tym at d prty lst nyt? just doesn’t sound well online. Some people may forget that all the characters are at your disposal and besides, you have a fairly longer character limit, so make use of them properly. The same goes for drunk posting, posting gibberish or something too vague. And you don’t always have to follow Facebook’s prompt ‘What’s On Your Mind?’ Although all Facebook users have the liberty to say all sorts of things they like, this thing can also be very irritating to many people over the long run. Obviously, you wouldn’t want to irritate your customers and clients.
– Choose Contacts Wisely
Be aware that different updates will turn up on their news feed. Their other Facebook friends can even see these posts in many occasions. With this, you’d want to only include people who might be engaged to your offer. Direct contacts are suitable. Keep in mind that you only have 5000 limit for contacts so choose wisely. If you’re keeping a Facebook page for professional reasons, then do not accept friend requests right away. It would do you good to do a bit of research about the contact. You can un-friend some people later on after finding out that they aren’t within your target audience.
